Thanks to everyone who shared with me their thoughts on the future of the Super Awesome Art Challenge. The good news is it will definitely be sticking around. The gooder news is that I will be making some much needed additions and improvements including...and I hope it's not empty promises...me actually posting work on time!! Updates should be up and running by the end of the month and I hope to see all of you back here to post some amazing work soon.
Thanks always for your support.

S.A.A.C...?
Hello contributors and follows/viewers. The S.A.A.C. is on a hiatus right now. I am currently trying to decide if I am going to keep the site active or not. Participation has been way down this year and although the site is completely voluntary I want to make sure my time monitoring and creating new challenges is being well spent. I would love to hear from the contributors as well as the followers/viewers if they are interested in keeping the site active. Thank you for all your participation and support.

July's Super Awesome Art Challenge is...
Man, it's late. I'm super sore/stiff from the gym. Played too much Trenched (well, not really. It's pretty fun.)But I wanted to get this posted now that I'm back from a little vacay. Anyway hopefully somebody will post again someday cuz' I'm going to keep adding topics.
Oh! Congrats to Chris Schons and his new baby girl!!! I'm sure he'll have all the free time to post to the SAAC now!

Goo...Fail...
So they can't all be good. This was a piece I was working on for the challenge of Goo. I had a lot of ideas for this. It was a fan art piece focused around the "gel" that was introduced in Portal 2. Well...my original thoughts became completely lost along the way and it started turning into something that I just didn't feel like ever finishing. I have another idea for Goo instead but I'm working on finishing up Trucker Mouth first.
Here is a shot of the work in progress.
Here is a close up shot. I really liked my drawings of Glados and Weebly. Also I was getting all into hiding little elements of the game in there like the companion cubes in the tunnel in the lower right frame.

June's Super Awesome Art Challenge is...
So whoops...May totally slipped by and I failed to uploade the challenge. No biggie I guess. A lot of pretty crazy stuff has been going on. Lindsay's company Paper Bicycle has been doing their Daily Pattern challenges. Pretty cool stuff, check it out. Also, Mista D., aka Mud!, aka Luis Diaz just finished his first book! Jump on over to Project: Blue to check out the sweet details and pick up a copy. Me...well, I've mainly been doing a ton of junk for work that's secret and I can't tell anybody about...also drawing on post-it notes.
Enough of that. Throw on your sleeveless t-shirts and greasy ball caps and crank out some smooth talkin' trucker magic. Gid-er-done!! (Couldn't resist)

Goo-d Father Loogie
Ha! I'm back, suckas! Despite taking on a second, gargantuan challenge of making a pattern everyday, I haven't forgot about the good ol' SAAC...
I still plan on catching up to speed, starting with Goo! So I present Father Loogie...
Father Loogie visits you in the night and fills your nose full of juicy viscous snot, just so you can spend your days hocking bright green/yellow/brown/redish loogies like a champ.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to barf a lot.

Sad SAAC Jesse: Hairy Situation
Here is my continuing series of finishing old challenges in reverse alphabetical order.
Whoa, this one is sort of current-ish I guess. It is covered with hair.
More painter.

Sad SAAC Jesse: Houla Ghoula? What?
Here is my continuing series of finishing old challenges in reverse alphabetical order.
And this is a wikkid old one. So old. So very old. Which means it being a dead guy makes sense. He would have been full of life if this had been done on time, and then it also would not have been topical, which is better, because topical is for creams, not art.
More painter'ing. And way more brown that it needs to be, whoops.

Sad SAAC Jesse: Pirates! (and pants)
Here is my continuing series of finishing old challenges in reverse alphabetical order.
Today's image is: Pirate Pants. Or in my case: A Pirate Pants. Or maybe Panting Pirate. Or whatever.
You can tell he is a pirate by the ear ring. And because I told you.
Painter.

Sad SAAC Jesse: Rainbows!
I am going to try an finish all the SAACs I skipped. I am also going to try and keep them all under 3 hours. I am also going take a sip of water.
These will be in roughly, reverse alphabetical order. Starting with my most hated subject: Rainbows. I tapped into my glory days of being a teenager and making lots of pictures of clowns. Though, this doesn't look like those. No sir. Whatever.
Painter. Roughly an hour. Roughly .5 headaches. and one slightly cramped hand. Oh, and a background worthy of vomit. My gift to all of you.

Okay...so a few days late. Whoops. Anyway, here it is! Your, drippy, goopy, gooey, delicious challenge for April. This month's challenge also perfectly describes the consistency of the ground in Minneapolis right now.
The challenge is set, carry on my awesome art chums!

Hey, a kittie, how timely.
So, I just happened to be commissioned to paint a cat at the same time there is a cat related SAAC challenge. Some planets must be aligned or something.... Anyway, here it is, my first ever cat painting:
8x10, acrylic on canvas.
The cat is my friend's cat Billie Boots. I painted that goddamn fur 3 times.

Hairy Situation
Alright, I know this is pretty late. But we've had stupid crazy deadlines since December, and I've also had to get art ready for a couple shows, so unfortunately this had to wait.
Everyone who knows us knows we have too many pets for our own good. And getting any sleep when you have a pile of meowing, purring, pawing, yawning, stretching, burping, barfing, tooting animals is not easy. In fact, it's quite a 'hairy situation'! Eh? Eh?
(check out a larger version here.
I'm not 100% pleased with how it turned out, but I have to move on. I swear I will get caught up on my SAAC pieces ASAP. I do hope to revisit this, and if that happens I will post it again.
I do love the drawing itself, which Lindsay gets some credit for. I drew it, she inked it. Check out the original black and white drawing!

March's Super Awesome Art Challenge is...
It's official. The kitties are in session. Grab your breifcases and yarn balls and set your sites on success. This month's challenge has high potential opportunity to produce quantifiable results in the categories of cuteness and also cuddliness.
Proceed.

Finally buckled down and finshed'er up. My apologies to Jesse who continue requested I hand paint this piece. I just wasn't feeling it for this one. Rest easy though, some actual hand painted art cometh.

January's Super Awesome Art Challenge is...
Welcome and Happy New Year to all you awesome artists out there! The SAAC is back with a fresh new look for 2011 and a whole fresh batch of challenges for your mind and pencil.
Couple of cool new things, first off we have two COUNT'EM two new members. Everyone welcome Mike (aka Slaterock) whom I've known for forever and is sure to bring some sweet stuff to the table and Allison who is a new artist I have recently met who can do some serious graphical damage. Let's just hope they post so I can be proven right!
Secondly I have ALL of the challenge titles ready to go and should be on track to post at the begining of each month...heck, I might even DO some of the challenges this year!! Give chris H a run for his money. (This isn't just your ordinary news show chris...if you know what i mean)
Lastly, as you may have noticed Mista D and myself posted a few older challenge pieces. If anyone feels like there is a challenge they missed but would like to complete by all means bring it. I'm still working on my Yeti Spaghetti piece!!
With that, the hairy challenge is set so everyone think jesse thoughts and doodle up a sweet, furry feast for my eyes.

Teef
This isn't my original idea for Teeth, but it's very much along the lines of what I wanted to do. I was going to mask out the top portion, but while I was going through the motions I liked the bigger teeth option so I left it. Happy accident.
